Mini’s First Vote : “Mini’s First Vote” by Shabnam Minwalla is a compelling story with wonderful illustrations by Ekta Bharti. The story follows Mini, a sixth grader. She is like what one would expect a sixth grader to be like, a dimple, two bouncy ponytails and a proactive mind. It is easy for her to do her homework and dreaming with her buzzing mind but it gets harder when she has to choose somethings over others. Mini can be a bit indecisive. But the elections for the school captain are coming up. Mini needs to make a decision. There are four contestants. One of them wants more cultural activities, the other wants to increase sports, one wants to make the school a better and fun place and the last one just has huge pictures of himself plastered on the wall. Mini is confused at first but faces a lot of her classmates with different opinions.
