Sringeri Srinivas’s Cow Must Moo! : “Sringeri Srinivas’s Cow Must Moo!” by Rohini Nilekani is a comedic story with wonderful illustrations by Angie & Upesh. The story follows Sringeri Srinivas, a banana farmer. One day he came back from the cattle fair with a new cow and his wife, Parvatama, named her Laxmi. But along with Laxmi, a cat followed them and his daughter, Uma, took her in naming the cat Manuli. Srinivas introduces Laxmi and Uma to the other cows at the farm. One day as he moved to milk the cows something strange happened, Laxmi made a sound that was definitely not a Moo! All the cows became distressed and refused to give milk and Srinivas became increasingly puzzled about his situation. Laxmi gave sweet milk but the other cows refused and that was a huge problem.
