The Tin Soldier – Level 4

The Tin Soldier- Level 4 is the classic literary fairy tale, originally known as “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” written by a Danish author Hans Andersen, published in 1838 retold through simple text and stunning artwork.

The Tin Soldier is a part of the Usborne First Reading Series and is a storybook written especially for children who are learning to read. It is developed in consultation with Alison Kelly, Principal Lecturer in Education and Reading Specialist at the University of Roehampton, UK.

A boy receives a set of 25 toy soldiers made of tin for his birthday out of which a soldier has only one leg. The soldier falls in love with a paper ballerina who’s also standing on one leg. An evil goblin threatens the soldier and pushes him off the window. Now, the soldier embarks on an adventurous journey through rains and storms. Will he reunite with the ballerina? Where will his luck, or bad luck, take him?

This retelling of a classic short story is full of surprises, adventures, and emotions that will touch the hearts of the readers. It is also adapted to various media including animated films, songs, and puppet movies.
