The Magic Block : “The Magic Block” by Lavina Mahbubhani is a lovely story with wonderful illustrations by Rohit Karandadi. The story follows a little girl, Rinky. Rinky loves her elder brother’s writing pen. Her Bhaiyaa writes with a very special shiny ink pen. One day, when her brother is not home Rinky decides to look for his pen and opens his drawer. She finds a number of things there loose papers, books, a stapler and much more. All of things you can imagine being in a boy’s drawer. Then Rinky finds the pen but she finds something else with it too, something she doesn’t know anything about. It is a strange solid block. The pen seems to be stuck to it. Puzzled Rinky tries pulling it apart and starts experimenting with it. The block sticks to the stapler but not to the cat. Rinky plays some more and gets stuck and finds a way out. She’s about to do more but she hears her brother. Rinky hurries to put things back. Do you think her brother will find out? And how did Rinky get stuck before? What is this mystical block anyway?
